Artist Information

CHERIE LAWRENCE – WARTIME TRIBUTE SINGER . Cherie Lawrence could be the perfect addition to your wartime event to commemorate! With costumes made from original 1940s patterns and hair in wartime curls, Cherie will take you back in time with songs by Vera Lynn, Ann Shelton, Elsie Carlisle, The Andrews Sisters and many more. Songs to make you laugh, songs to make you cry and songs to make you dance! Cherie has been performing her WWII show at venues across the country for six years now with many regular public bookings such as Beverley Armed Forces Day, Hull Veterans Weekend, Whitby and Pickering War Weekends, Napoleon’s Casinos, Harrogate Dance Festival and many other museums, 40s events, vintage fairs, hotels and stately homes. Vintage is all the rage at the moment so Cherie is as popular for trendy 30th birthdays as she is for nostalgic 90th birthdays. If there’s a mixed age group at a party and not everyone is into 40s then Cherie can easily sing lots of other popular music too from the 50s to the present day. To dress the stage Cherie brings an antique Union Jack flag and a British Ensign, sandbags, camouflage netting and old suitcase. For weekend and evening performances (and larger stages) Cherie can also bring antique chair, table, tea crates and gramophone! SETS 1 x 1 hour Presentation of music from the 40s and earlier from Britain and America. Ideal for lunches and meetings. 3 x 30 mins - Either completely 40s or earlier or last half hour 50s to present day. 2 x 45 mins - Again, completely 40s and earlier or second half 50s to present day. NEW FOR 2014! CHERIE LAWRENCE – SONGS OF THE GREAT WAR 2014 is also the 100th year anniversary of WWI and in June 2014 Cherie begins her new tribute act to the songs of 1914 – 1918 (and a few from even earlier!). Commemorations will be taking place all over the country from 2014 – 2018. In full costume, Cherie will now take you back even further to the songs our boys sang in the trenches and families sang around the piano with songs such as ‘Roses of Picardy’, ‘Keep The Home Fires Burning’, ‘Daisy Bell’ and ‘Loves Old Sweet Song’. Sets are as above – 1 hour, 3 x 30 or 2 x 45 and if the client wishes, both WWI and WWII can be combined with a bit of nifty hair tweaking and a quick costume change out of the corset! So for example the first 45 mins would be WWI and the second 45 would be WWII! Or it could be completely WWI.
